Kate Winslet is a powerful force.

She is outspoken, passionate, and dedicated to elevating women’s voices.

After spending 30 years in Hollywood, she knows that women must become their own biggest advocates in the face of sexist, misogynistic, and patriarchal industry norms.

For Australian star Kate Ritchie, her words cut deep. In fact, Richie was brought to tears on national radio this morning just by Winslet’s presence.

The British actress joined Nova’s Kate Ritchie to promote her new film LEE, about World War II war correspondent and photojournalist Elizabeth Lee Miller. ” appeared on the show.

After discussing the power of female protagonists, the two had a heart-to-heart when Richie opened up about her own experience in the spotlight.

“I want to thank you for the conversations you’ve had and continue to have about body image. And I think we’ve had very different careers, but what we have in common is that we grew up in some degree… “I grew up on TV shows,” Richie began.
