The team behind Netflix’s cult hit has wisely kept its legacy from being officially canceled.

In recent years, streaming services have had a habit of ending critically acclaimed series that are still in their prime, and some of the most frustrating cases include The OA, Mindhunter, 1899, and one of the most frustrating cases of all. Includes Shadow and Bone, which was canned regardless – titles watched. What went wrong at a recent show was chaos.

It has been confirmed that another popular series will not be returning, but it seems like the makers have been preparing for this news for quite some time and have decided to essentially end their show while its popularity is high. .

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off premiered on Netflix in November 2023. It is a sequel to Edgar Wright’s 2010 graphic novel film adaptation Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and was developed by the original’s creator, Brian Lee O’Malley.

The animated series, which reunites many of the original stars of the film, has been a hit and currently holds a near-perfect score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes.

O’Malley updated fans on the status of Season 2, revealing that she was “recently informed that the show will not be returning.”

But before fans got so enraged that they launched angry petitions complaining about the service’s cleverness in canceling shows, O’Malley devised Netflix as a one-season show and tried to beat Netflix at its own game. It seems that you used

He wrote on X/Twitter: “As you know, we only planned for one season and had so much buy-in to make it happen that it would have been nearly impossible to produce more seasons. However, I think some of you are still holding out hope.

The update comes after O’Malley told Rolling Stone about the show after its debut: We loved what we did. I put everything in there. There are no ideas lying around on the floor. I’ve included almost everything.

“I’m never saying never, but at this point it seems like about 50 different miracles would have to happen at the same time for next season to happen.”

‘Scott Pilgrim Take Off’ Season 2 Will Not Return (Netflix)

He added: “People always complain about shows being canceled after one season. So we immediately tried to hedge the risk and create a self-contained season.”

This was a smart move, considering that O’Malley and his co-creator Ben David Grabinski were essentially saving the show from being canceled prematurely.

It’s unclear if the bosses would have devised a season 2 if they wanted more episodes, but for now, the show is not only popular, but one of the rare Netflix shows to have aired on its own. It has the potential to go down in history. Clause.
