Ghostface has a new target.
Isabel May, best known for starring in the Yellowstone prequels 1883 and 1923, has been awarded the role of Neve Campbell’s daughter Plum in Scream 7, and is in talks to play opposite the Scream Queen.
The seventh installment of the Spyglass Entertainment-produced horror series is in rebuilding mode after losing young stars Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera. Campbell was absent from the previous film due to salary issues, but will return in the new film, which focuses on her character Sidney Prescott and her daughter.
Kevin Williamson – The series is directed by series creator Kevin Williamson, who wrote Wes Craven’s original work as well as the scripts for Scream 2 and Scream 4. Guy Busick, who wrote 2022’s Scream and Scream VI, wrote the script.
Paramount Pictures plans to release Scream 7 in theaters on February 27, 2026. James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment are producing.
Campbell’s casting came at a time when the new film was in need of a creative reset. Barrera was fired from the series last year over social media posts about the Israeli-Hamas war, and Ortega quietly withdrew from the project several months ago. Following these departures, the film’s original director Christopher Landon has announced that he will be leaving the film.
Filmmakers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette, known as Radio Silence, helped bring the series back to prominence with 2022’s Scream. Last year’s Scream VI, which they also directed, grossed $166.3 million worldwide.
Wes Craven directed the original 1996 film Scream from a script originally written on spec by Williamson. Sidney has been a central character in the series since the first film, which starred Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers and David Arquette as Dewey Riley.
In addition to playing Elsa Dutton in 1883 and 1923, May also appeared in the 2022 romantic film I Want You Back and co-starred in the Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air. She is repped by CAA and Principal Entertainment.
