Dragon Age: The Veilguard is here

2024 may be almost over, but what could be one of the best games of the year is still on the way. The title I’m referring to is none other than Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This is the fourth mainline entry in BioWare and Electronic Arts’ legendary RPG series, and the first since 2014’s Dragon Age: Inquisition, released ten years ago. It’s been a very long wait for Dragon Age 4, but now that its release is nearing, excitement for the game is rapidly building.

With the RPG’s release just a few weeks away, players interested in the possibility of a new fantasy adventure are wondering exactly when they’ll be able to embark on this new Dragon Age journey. Fortunately, the developer has announced the game’s official release date and exact launch time information. All this, and everything we know about preload, storage requirements, etc., is explained in the sections below.

What is Dragon Age: The Veilguard?

Dragon Age: Veilguard | Official Release Date Trailer – YouTube Watch On

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a single-player action RPG set in the fantasy world of Thedas, and takes place after the events of the previous game in the series, Dragon Age: Inquisition. Players create and control a custom character called a “Rook” (you can give it a real name in the character creator) and adventure through the game as one of three classes: Warrior, Rogue, and Mage. Each class allows you to customize and fine-tune your playstyle using specialization subclasses. Like many other action RPGs, combat requires you to fight enemies using weapons, magic, and skills, and avoid enemy attacks with well-timed defensive maneuvers such as dodging, blocking, and parrying.

Naturally, much of The Veilguard’s choice-driven story is being kept secret by EA and BioWare, but we do know a few things about the game’s overall plot. Solas, a companion character who returns from the Inquisition, blackmails all of Thedas with a ritual said to restore the lost elf immortality, but at the same time destroy the world inhabited by demons and the metaphysical “Fade” realm. We tear apart the veil that is the barrier between us. However, you and your Veilguard allies stop him, but an ensuing skirmish ensues and the arrival of a pair of elven gods who plan the destruction of the world. In the aftermath, you and your allies are tasked with banding together to defeat two terrifying gods.

The game has seven different allies that you can recruit, travel with, and fight alongside, as well as a deep backstory and romance if you’re so inclined. The story also features several characters from past Dragon Age games. For example, Varric Tethras and Race Harding both appear in The Veilguard, with the former originating from Dragon Age 2 and the latter first introduced in Inquisition.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is coming to Xbox Series ). In addition to the standard version of the game, there’s also a $79.99 Deluxe Edition that comes with a special set of cosmetics for Rook and his friends (see our Dragon Age: The Veilguard pre-order guide for more information).

Fans looking to play a new RPG right away will be happy to know that it’s not that far away and can be completed in just a few weeks. Specifically, Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s release date is October 31, 2024, officially making it the creepiest game launch of 2024.

All the latest news, reviews, and guides for Windows and Xbox enthusiasts.

As for the exact release time, BioWare has confirmed that The Veilguard will be available simultaneously worldwide at 9am PT / 12pm ET. However, as a result of this global launch, it won’t actually be released in some eastern regions until the early morning hours of November 1st. Keep that in mind if you plan on staying up late on Halloween to play the game as soon as it’s released.

Thanks to EA and BioWare’s release time map, you can find out exactly when The Veilguard will be released in major time zones around the world. Each of these times are shown in the map image above, and are also shown in the table below.

Can I play Dragon Age: The Veilguard in Early Access?

These days, many big games, especially single-player RPGs like this one, have special early access periods where those who purchase the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition can play for a few days. However, Dragon Age: The Veilguard doesn’t include any of these, so regardless of which edition you purchase, you’ll have until October 31st at 9am PT / 12pm ET to get into the game. ). .

This clock counts down to the worldwide release date and time of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, so it’s a useful tool if you want to keep track of how long you have to wait until release.

New games have become much larger in recent years, and I don’t just mean things like map size or number of quests. These days, it’s not uncommon for large, detailed single-player RPGs like this to require over 100 GB of file space, and Dragon Age: The Veilguard unfortunately follows that trend. As revealed in the official Dragon Age: The Veilguard system requirements, the game requires 100 GB of storage on a solid state drive (SSD) to play.

If you don’t have enough free space on the SSD you already own, try deleting old files (especially large files like videos), compressing other files, or uninstalling other games you don’t play often. to free up space on your hard drive (these are just a few examples). If you want to add more space to your rig or need to get an SSD, consider choosing one of the best SSDs available today.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard preload date and time

One of the great features of modern games is the ability to preload, or download and install, the game before you can actually play it. Preloading has become increasingly popular since file sizes began to balloon into the triple digits. This allows everyone, especially players with poor or slow internet connections, to start playing right away at launch.

Preloads are available for both the Xbox Series Exact preload dates and times are listed below.

Xbox Series X|S: October 14th, 9am PT / 12pm ET PlayStation 5: October 29th, 9am PT / 12pm ET

Can I preload Dragon Age: The Veilguard on my PC?

Unfortunately, preloading is not available in the PC version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This means you’ll have to wait until October 31st at 9am PT / 12pm ET to download and install. The developers say The Veilguard doesn’t have any third-party digital rights management (DRM) built in, like Denuvo, so they couldn’t offer a preload for PC players.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is scheduled to be released on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5 on October 31, 2024. This looks to be one of the top new single-player RPGs, and possibly one of the best. Also Xbox games and this year’s best PC games.
