Sharing behind-the-scenes photos on social media, Cretton thanked “the people who worked with me on the biggest, most rewarding movie I’ve ever been in,” before turning to the team that brought the new Spider-Man movie to life.
“A wonderful cast that brings so much life to these beloved characters and touches us every day,” he wrote. “Thank you to our incredible staff who worked tirelessly with unparalleled creativity and craftsmanship and made us laugh so hard our stomachs hurt.”
Cretton also singled out Tom Holland and praised his leadership and performance throughout the production. “And of course, thank you to @tomholland2013 for your kind and generous leadership, tireless work ethic, fearless performance, and friendship on and off screen,” he wrote. “This is the end of Spider-Man: Brand New Day!”

Production was temporarily halted after Tom Holland was injured during filming.
Filming began in August and production took place in the United Kingdom, including time in Scotland. Filming was reportedly suspended in September after a stunt went awry and Holland was treated for a mild concussion. He was taken to the hospital and underwent tests, but was not admitted, and no other cast or staff members were affected. In a Sept. 27 Instagram post, Holland wrote that he was “feeling better and on the road to recovery.”
Cast details include Zendaya’s return and Mark Ruffalo’s MCU role
Holland will return as Peter Parker in the fourth installment of the current Spider-Man series, while Zendaya and Jacob Batalon will also return as MJ and Ned. The film stars Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk, and Michael Mando will also reprise his role as Scorpion following Spider-Man: Homecoming. Jon Bernthal will also join the big screen MCU for the first time as the Punisher. Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is also set to appear, but her role has not yet been decided.
Cretton will direct from a script by returning writers Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers, with Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige producing.
With principal photography complete, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently in post-production ahead of its theatrical release on July 30, 2026 in Australia and July 31 in the United States.
