In addition to the previously announced live-action and animated films, Kojima Productions has announced that an animated television series based on Death Stranding is in the works and is scheduled to be released on Disney+ in 2027.
It is expected to be presented in “traditional hand-drawn 2D animation” and tell an entirely new story within the game’s world. The film is expected to tell the story of an as-yet-unnamed man and woman living in North America.
Here is the synopsis of the program. “Somewhere in North America, someone is trying to cope with loneliness in their own way, just as Sam Bridges is walking the continent to save America.”
Hideo Kojima will serve as the series’ executive producer, and Takayuki Sano will direct. Past works include “Attack on Titan,” “Dragon Ball Z,” and “Jujutsu Kaisen 0.”
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was released this year to critical acclaim. However, through efforts like the Strands of Harmony world tour, which brought the game’s music to a live audience, and the aforementioned films in production, this IP is steadily evolving with each product.
