Screen Australia and Ambience Entertainment are excited to announce the start of production on the feature film Overture this month.


Written and directed by award-winning Bruce Beresford, Overture is a powerful, funny and moving family story that resonates with modern audiences. Ambience Entertainment is proud to have completed financing and the film has also received major production investment from Screen Australia in partnership with ScreenWest through the WA Production Attractions Incentive. Post, digital and visual effects supported by Screen NSW.


Overture follows the journey of successful stage designer Stephen Theary as he returns to his small Australian hometown to say goodbye to his dying mother. Chaos, drama, and sometimes downright funny moments unfold as Stephen navigates family responsibilities, old friends, and relationships with past lovers while attempting to return to Europe for a major opera design contract. I will.


This powerful and empathetic family comedy-drama features an exceptional cast, including Luke Bracey (Elvis, Hacksaw Ridge, The Interceptor) as Stephen, Brian Brown (Anyone But You, Breaker Morant, Cocktail) and Susie Porter (Mercy Road) is brought to life by. , Blood Transfusion, Gold), Celia Massingham (DC Legends of Tomorrow, Ladies in Black, Leaf & Beef), newcomer Shubhshri Kandhya (Musicals “Beauty and the Beast”, “Aladdin”, Musical “Into the Beast”) Woods), Nicholas Hammond (The Amazing Spider-Man, The Sound of Music, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).

Academy Award-nominated director Bruce Beresford, known for films such as Driving Miss Daisy, The Last Dancer and Ladies in Black, expressed his excitement for the project: announced. Overture was made possible thanks to the State Government’s WA Production Incentive. This is Australia’s most competitive incentive and is designed to attract high-profile, market-driven film productions to the state.

Overture will be released theatrically in Australia in 2025 and worldwide.
