Netflix has announced the official trailer for Black Mirror Season 7, teasing six new episodes of Charlie Brooker’s acclaimed dystopian anthology series. Above trailer; below information and first image.
Brooker, the creator and writer behind the series, shared some details about what fans can expect this time. “You can expect a mix of genre and style,” he said at Netflix’s Geeked Week event. “This time there are six episodes, two of which are essentially the length of function. Some of them are very uncomfortable, some are very interesting, some are very interesting, some are emotional.”
Some upcoming episodes are the first in the series. This is a direct sequel. Brooker confirmed that one of the stories will return to the world of “USS Calister,” a popular season four episode that followed the tyrannical video game programmer within his own twisted sci-fi simulation.
Speaking to Netflix site Tudum, Brooker said the new season will be “a little OG black mirror.” He explained: “It’s back to basics in many ways. They’re all sci-fi stories – there’s definitely some horror thing going on, but maybe not an obvious horror movie. There’s definitely some ominous content.”
The cast for Season 7 includes a vast list of returns and new faces. Previously announced names include Awkwafina, Peter Capaldi, Emma Corrin, Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Cristin Milioti, Issa Rae, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jimmi Simpson and Harriet Walter. Netflix has now revealed additional cast members, including Michele Austin (Hard Truths), Ben Bailey Smith (David Brent: Life on the Road), Will Poulter (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3), and Michael Workéyè (This hurts). As Brooker admits, “There’s an embarrassingly stacked cast.”
Season 7 of Black Mirror will hit Netflix on April 10th.
