Netflix
The Netflix series The Perfect Couple is set to return for the second season, this time with a brand new mystery and a completely different family under the microscope.
New Family, New Scandal
According to multiple outlets (Ankler first breaks the news, confirmed by Hollywood reporters), Netflix is developing the perfect couple into anthology series. The first season was centered around the wealthy and scandal-plagued Winberry family, but the follow-up is expected to introduce another money to stir up the water. The setting that satisfies Nantucket’s picturesque drama doesn’t go anywhere, but the story and cast are completely refreshed.
Another Elin Hilderbrand novel
Season 2 coordinates Swan Song, the 2024 novel by perfect couple writer Erin Hilderbrand. The story follows the Richardsons, a mysterious, luxurious, rich family that swooped down to Nantucket after buying a $22 million summer home. It doesn’t take long for them to throw wild parties, captivate locals, and show off their yachts (multiple). However, the charm begins to fade after their homes burn out and key members of the staff mysteriously disappear. What unfolds is a twisted tale of secrets and doubts among the island’s common elites.
New showrunners intervene
Joanna Calo, co-showrunner of the hit FX series The Bear, takes over the reins of Season 2. She adapts Netflix’s Swan Song, intervenes for Jenna Lamia, who worked as a showrunner and took on the duties in her first season.
Nicole Kidman will not come back in front of the camera (as far as we know), but she has returned as an executive producer. She has rejoined with Gale Berman, Sean Levy, directors Suzanne Beer and Hend Baghdadi as her flower saari’s partner in the Blossom film.
Not surprising: Season 1 was a hit
Netflix makes sense to keep the perfect couple alive when you look at the numbers. The six-episode murder mystery, which fell in September 2024, was one of the platform’s biggest shows later this year. It ranked 2nd in views (measured by driving time measured in clock time) and 5th in total viewed time on Netflix’s global charts. There were already signs that the streamer wasn’t finished at the property. Netflix listed the show as “season 1” of the top 10 data, not as a limited series.
Cast and release details that are still under the wrap
So far, there is no word on who is next stepping into the perfect world of couples. Season 1 boasted a heavyweight ensemble that included Kidman, Riff Schreiber, Eve Hewson, Megan Fahee, Dakota Fanning and Billy Howl. If Netflix aims to match its A-list energies, look forward to the track’s announcement of another star-studded cast.
When will Season 2 arrive? It has not been revealed yet. Stay tuned – We’ll keep you up to date while the new season comes together!
