‘Peaky Blinders: The Immortal’ teaser trailer: Cillian Murphy returns as Tommy Shelby in Netflix movie

Peaky Blinders is back. Netflix has released the official teaser trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal, which takes Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) from exile to wartime Birmingham. Watch the trailer above and read on to find out what this long-awaited return has in store.

Tommy Shelby returns to wartime Birmingham

Set in 1940 Birmingham, Peaky Blinders: The Immortals draws Tommy Shelby back into a world on the brink as World War II reshapes both the city and its stakes. The trailer focuses more on atmosphere than story, following Tommy through forests, graveyards, and quiet domestic spaces as an unseen voice asks, “What happened to Tommy Shelby?” Tommy’s answer is simple. “I’m not that guy anymore.”

As the official synopsis states, Tommy is brought back from self-imposed exile to face his “most devastating sentence yet.” With his family and homeland in danger, the film positions this chapter as a confrontation with heritage itself – will it mean reclaiming it or burning it down entirely?

Series creator Steven Knight once again wrote the film’s script, framing the story as a natural progression of the series rather than a quiet epilogue. “This country is at war, and of course our Peaky Blinders is as well,” Knight told Netflix site TuDum. “This is going to be an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. It’s a full-fledged Peaky Blinders battle.”

Cast, creative, release date

The film reunites Murphy with Knight and director Tom Harper (The Aeronauts, Heart of Stone), who previously directed three episodes of the series.

Murphy described his return as unfinished business, saying, “Tommy Shelby doesn’t seem to be done with me. I’m so happy to be working with Stephen Knight and Tom Harper again in the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is a fan production.”

Joining Murphy is an all-star cast including Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy, Packie Lee, Ian Peck, Jay Ricargo and Stephen Graham.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal will be shown in select U.S. theaters starting March 6th, before hitting Netflix on March 20th.
