Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ teaser trailer

The first teaser trailer for Avengers: Doomsday has officially been released online. Marvel has officially released the footage after it was released in theaters ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash and spread through leaks last week. Watch the teaser above and read on.

Chris Evans officially returns as Steve Rogers

This teaser includes the big, honest reveal that Chris Evans will be returning as Steve Rogers. The teaser focuses entirely on the former Captain America, who lives a quiet home life. Steve rides his motorcycle to the same house where he reunited with Peggy Carter, cleans out (or retrieves) his old suit, and the camera reveals that he is now a father as he gazes lovingly at his newborn child.

The teaser ends with a clear title card confirming that “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.” Of note is the wording that avoids Steve passing on the Captain America mantle to Sam Wilson.

In addition to Rodgers’ appearance, the teaser also provides a close-up of the card. There are no additional character reveals or action beats, and there is no appearance of Doctor Doom, whose presence was previously teased briefly in Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Avengers: What we know about Doomsday

Directed by husband-and-wife team Joe and Anthony Russo (who returned to the series after making four blockbuster films: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame), Doomsday marks the MCU’s return to the Avengers banner for the first time since Endgame. The film, previously known as Avengers: Kung Dynasty, was then remade and delayed, eventually being released in December 2026.

Marvel has already announced a large ensemble cast, but Evans’ involvement was not included in the original reveal, making this teaser a significant update. For now, the studio has narrowed its focus, confirming Rogers’ return while leaving the broader scope of the story untouched.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in Australian cinemas on December 17, 2026 and in US cinemas on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow in December 2027.
