Screen NSW officially launches a $2 million IP fund

Screen NSW has opened an application for a $200,000 fund designed to encourage producers to choose intellectual property rights from the underrated NSW Creative, in the hopes of viewing novels, non-fiction work, podcasts and more, turning things like state-made into screen and gaming content.

The IP In Motion Fund will fully or partially refund the costs of up to $5,000, up to $5,000, screen or digital game producers. It is created by people included in ScreenNSW’s priority areas, people from western Sydney, regional NSW, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disabilities, and people with LGBTQIA+ people.

Eligible formats for the fund include both narrative and documentary feature films, television series and children’s content, expanded reality projects, and digital games.

The IP fund was first flagged last October as part of its three-year NSW screen and digital gaming strategy.

“The screen and digital gaming industry are essential to the cultural fabric of NSW. Our local stories are shared with the world, and it is important that these stories reflect everyone in NSW.

“We are excited to provide more story opportunities from voices that are less likely to be expressed in screen and gaming content, create an exciting pipeline of work in NSW, and contribute to the sustainable future of these industries in the state.

“The IP In Motion Fund can increase local story opportunities, which is successful through other channels that have evolved into groundbreaking television series, films and digital games, allowing you to see yourself, and reflect the breathtaking location of NSW on your screen.”
