‘Bluey’ adds Rose d’Or to international honors list

Ludo Studio’s all-conquering Cattle Dog family have become Australia’s newest Rose d’Or winners, with Bluey taking home the Children’s and Youth category at this week’s ceremony in London.

The animated series beat out competition from Italy, the UK, Norway and the Netherlands, adding another international honor to a collection that has already won a BAFTA and an International Emmy Award.

The show concludes a big year for Blue Heeler, Mama Chili, Papa Bandit, and little sister Bingo, who went on their longest adventure ever in the 28-minute special “The Sign.”

“The Sign” has amassed 10.4 million views worldwide on Disney+ in its first seven days of streaming, according to data from Disney+, which streams episodes in all territories except Australia, New Zealand and China. , Bluey is consistently in the top five series. Disney+ by monthly viewership.

In September, the ABC/BBC Studios series, created and written by Joe Blum, was watched for 35 billion minutes, making it the most-watched program in the U.S. in 2024, according to data from Nielsen Media Research. He was crowned.

Tuesday’s win may have been Bluey’s first, but it was the second for Queensland-based production company Ludo, which previously won top social media and video series vertical series in 2020. Awarded for content.

The annual Rose d’Or Awards are the European Broadcasting Union’s flagship event recognizing excellence and achievement in international television and audio programming.

Other winners this year include the Netflix series “Baby Reindeer,” which won in the drama category, and the Best Actor of the Year award for his role as sly British agent Jackson Lamb in the Apple TV+ series “Slow Horses.” This includes Gary Oldman, who won the award.

In congratulating this year’s winners, Rose d’Or Committee Chair Mark Rowland noted the strength of this year’s nominees in each category.

“We received over 700 entries from 30 countries for the 2024 Rose d’Or Award,” he said.

“Competition intensifies every year and we have an incredibly strong group of finalists and these worthy winners. We would like to thank everyone who entered and the judges who had to make a very difficult choice. Thank you everyone.”
