Transmission Films has released the first look images of Spit, the highly anticipated Australian comedy from Gettin’ Square’s award-winning team, and announces that the film will be released in cinemas on March 6, 2025. did.
Spit, written by Gold Coast-based Gettin Square writer Christopher Nist, sees the return of beloved character Johnny (Spit) Spitieri, played by David Wenham.
The Spit will also feature the return of director Jonathan Teplitzky, as well as actors from the original film, including Helen Thomson, Gary Sweet, David Roberts, and David Field, who played Devers. The new characters will be played by Arlo Green, Pallavi Sharda, Ike Chutt, Sam and Tegan Rybka (The Rybka Twins), Sofia Golan, Bob Franklin, Louis FitzGerald, Sami Afni, and more.
Spit: Plot
Spit is the story of Johnny Spitieri, who is trapped in an immigration detention center after returning to Australia. With a nemesis on his tail and a target on his back, Spitieri survives a series of comedic misadventures and shares with his fellow detainees the meaning of comradeship and what it means to be a true Australian. do.
The film, which was shot in and around the Gold Coast earlier this year, was produced by Queensland-based Trish Lake’s Freshwater Pictures with Greg Duffy, Felicity McVeigh and David Wenham himself.
Trish Lake produced Gettin’ Square, and the film’s creative team included cinematographer Garry Phillips, production designer Nick McCallum, casting director Greg Apps, and line producer Julie. Forster, hair and makeup designer Tess Natoli has joined the SPIT staff.
