7 Netflix original shows with new seasons this week

No other streaming service releases as much original content as Netflix. In fact, it’s rare that a week goes by without a Netflix original coming back for a new season, but it can be hard to keep track of everything. Each week we try to cover each new Netflix release, but today we thought we’d take a closer look at the shows that are returning.

This is a week as busy as the return of Netflix original programming in 2024. There’s something for everyone, with Wonders for toddlers, Pokémon Horizons for kids (and kids at heart), and The Empress for historical drama fans. Zombieverse for reality TV lovers. We’re also getting the final three episodes of Arcane season 2.

Return of Netflix shows (11/17 – 11/23)

Wonders: Season 2 (November 18)

Netflix’s animated kindergarten series “Wonders” is returning. Animal friends Kiki, Dewey, Hajie, Lulu, and Teshi have a new adventure in Lou City. This season, a group of furry friends learn about caring for pets, cleaning up messes, and saying goodbye.

Zombieverse: New Blood (11/19)

Zombieverse isn’t just a zombie show, it’s a zombie reality show. In the second season, new participants go on a series of quests to survive in a world filled with evolved zombies. Meanwhile, a returning cast member’s unusual blood type could change everything. Plus, it’s much more entertaining than most zombie media.

Rhythm + Flow: Season 2 (November 20)

Rhythm + Flow is back to crown a new rap superstar. Season 2 will feature DJ Khaled, Ludacris, and Ratto as judges. A group of up-and-coming rappers will compete for the grand prize of $250,000. You’ll be guided by a “crew of legendary music moguls and industry icons,” including Eminem, who will serve as a special guest judge.

The Empress: Season 2 (November 22)

The Empress, the German-language series about Empress Elisabeth of Austria (Devrim Ringnow), returns for more palace intrigue and steamy romance. After marrying Emperor Franz Joseph (Philippe Froissant) in the first season, Elisabeth (aka Sisi) is under pressure to provide the Empire with an heir to the throne while fighting for her own individuality.

Pokémon Horizons: The Series Part 4 (November 22nd)

The fourth and final part of Pokémon Horizons: The Series Season 1 is coming to Netflix this week. In these last episodes, “The Rising Bolt Tacklers head to Paldea, but there’s one problem: They’re broke!” Sprigatito also escapes, and Dot’s mother arrives, at which point the Tacklers We have to make a big decision about our trip.

Tex-Mex Motors: Season 2 (November 22)

The synopsis for the second season of Netflix’s Tex-Mex Motors reads: “With new faces, a bigger shop, and higher profit goals, the Borderland crew builds up rare and unique cars to fix and flip. We venture deep into Mexico to procure them.” This season is especially meaningful because star Rob the Rabbit Pitts passed away in August after being diagnosed with stomach cancer.

Arcane: Season 2, Act III (November 23)

Three weeks after the release of Arcane Season 2, the epic saga will come to an end with the series finale on November 23rd. If the third act lands, Arcane will go down as one of the best originals Netflix has ever produced, animated or otherwise.
