Prime Video has released a teaser trailer for Young Sherlock, which stars Guy Ritchie in this new spin on the origin story about the world’s most famous detective. Watch the teaser above and read what’s in store.
A raw and uncontrollable Sherlock takes shape.
Set in 1870s Oxford, Young Sherlock introduces us to Sherlock Holmes before his legend was solidified. Hero Fiennes Tiffin (After Film series, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly War) plays him as an intelligent but impulsive teenager who is still trying to figure out how to aim for his own brain without blowing up everything around him.
The teaser depicts his first real case as more than just a rite of passage. A murder investigation threatens his freedom, and the deeper he digs, the wider the problems become, and a conspiracy forces him to move outside of Oxford and grow up faster.
Guy Ritchie approaches the mystery
Ritchie directed the first two episodes and is also an executive producer, leaving his fingerprints on the teaser. It has an athletic edge and a sense of playful irreverence, unsurprisingly reminiscent of the early Sherlock Holmes films in which Ritchie co-starred with Robert Downey Jr.
The series was created for television by Matthew Parkhill (Hotel Costiera, Deep State), who also serves as showrunner and executive producer.
cast and characters
In addition to Fiennes-Tiffin, the cast also includes Donal Finn as James Moriarty, Jine Tseng as Princess Gurung Shoan, Joseph Fiennes as Silas Holmes, Natasha McElhone as Cordelia Holmes, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes, and Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
release date
All eight episodes of Young Sherlock will premiere on Prime Video on March 4, 2026.
