One of the biggest issues with replacing the console to get it was historically that new things have to wait for them to transfer data, but Nintendo solved it with the latest 20.0.0 system update.
Following this update, you can back up the Nintendo Switch console, which will be stored on a dedicated server until Nintendo Switch 2 is released, and you can restore the backup on a new console.
This will reset the original switch and it seems like the original switch will not be able to access this data on the original switch, so only upgrades to those, but it’s still a great solution.
You can find the complete explanation below.
Nintendo Switch system is forwarding to Nintendo Switch 2
System Transfer to Nintendo Switch 2 is added under System Settings > System.
You can perform system transfers using local communication from the Nintendo Switch to the Nintendo Switch 2. For users who lose access to the Nintendo Switch before receiving the Nintendo Switch 2, they have the option to upload the system transfer data to a dedicated server. This will allow you to get it on your Nintendo Switch 2. It is recommended that you switch until you have Nintendo Switch 2 and get your Nintendo Switch 2 system, then use local communication to complete the system transfer.
