Microsoft launched a new Game Pass plan, Xbox Game Pass Standard, in September. The $15/month subscription includes online multiplayer access for your console, access to hundreds of games in the Game Pass library, and up to 50% off purchases on select non-Game Pass games.
However, the subscription does not include access to Day 1, the day a new game is released. So, for example, if Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releases on October 25th, standard subscribers will have to buy it. Play the games individually or see if Microsoft adds them to the Game Pass library at a later date.
“(Day 1 releases) are not immediately available on Game Pass Standard and may be added to your library in the future,” Xbox said in an email to CNET. “This can be up to 12 months or more and varies by title.”
Game Pass Standard subscribers have access to around 350 games from the Game Pass library, and Microsoft is giving subscribers access to more games every month. Subscribers can play games like Fallout 4 and Persona 3 Reload. Microsoft also added games such as MLB The Show 24 and Sifu to the service on October 2nd.
Microsoft announced Game Pass Standard in July along with the announcement that it would be eliminating the Game Pass Console tier for new subscribers. The console tier cost $11 per month and included Day 1 releases, giving subscribers access to hundreds of games.
The company announced in July that it would increase the price of Game Pass Ultimate from $17 to $20 per month. This price increase for Ultimate subscribers marks the second time in two years that prices at this level have increased.
You’ll now be able to choose between these four tiers, all of which include discounts on some non-Game Pass games.
