WTFN and Long-Term Partner Nine have announced new high-speed channels led by the long-term return series ambulance teams and emergency situations.
Launched via WTFN broadcast distribution arm’s Fred Media, the Real Emergency Fast Channel will be available on 9Now in Australia in the second quarter and will be distributed to major high-speed platforms around the world. At the same time, WTFN’s digital distribution arm radar will deploy real emergency VOD channels across YouTube, Facebook and other social video platforms.
WTFN’s Chief Commercial Officer Derek Dyson said the deal is an example of the company’s ability to drive partners’ “total distribution” solutions.
“By bringing together Fred and Radar divisions, we can work with the rights holders to monetize content on any platform we can think of, unlocking new revenue streams from previously unutilized rights,” he said.
“I think the work done by Channel 4 in the UK opened the eyes of networks around the world, demonstrating the value that can be extracted, especially by distributing broadcast content across a wider range of channels in their home territory.

Kieren Pittard, head of acquisitions and distribution, said the partnership will allow the company to find new audiences for the new platform titles, both here and abroad.
“It’s important for 9 to continue to diversify and maximize revenue streams for content you have existing rights, and working with partners who are familiar with the global fast space makes perfect sense, especially when generating both shows,” he said.
Radar has announced that it has launched a new partnership with independent Canadian producer Omnifilm Entertainment and announcing a dedicated YouTube channel for Jade Fever, a facts series following the established Jade Mining family in Canada’s wild.
Jade Fever took place over seven seasons and first aired on Discovery Channel Canada.
Dyson said he was pleased that the company brought Jade Fever into a growing stable of a single IP YouTube channel.
“(This series) has everything you need for a successful series on YouTube: great talent, hidden treasures, dramatic moments, big machines,” he said.
“I look forward to sharing this incredible series with the world right now.”
