The Gates of Nevermore Academy Creak will reopen with the first trailer for season 2 on Wednesday, teasing more mysteries, monsters and intervention relatives. Netflix released a moody, sharp look at the knife in the next chapter of its hit series. This continues to follow Jenna Ortega’s deadpan-through as she navigates school, her family and several murderous secrets. Please see the above for more details.
I’m coming back so violently to Nevermore
“I thought she knew Nevermore this season on Wednesday…but nothing happens that she’s hopeful,” series co-creator Miles Miller told Netflix site Tudum. Certainly, the trailer reveals that Wednesday’s return to school will not go according to plans. Adams’ family is expanding on campus, with Katherine Zeta Jones and Lewis Guzman re-starting their roles as Morticia and Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez joining the school as Pugsley Adams.
“Your family at school is the worst possible thing,” executive producer Tim Burton said. “Wednesday is an even more extreme version. Poor Pugsley… He’s kind of exile among the exiles.”
Steve Buscemi step into the spotlight
With the principal gone, Nevermore needs new leadership. Enter Steve Buscemi as Principal Barry Dort. “Barry Dort is a bit of a mystical figure,” Buscemi said. “There’s nothing about him right, but he loves school and he has real expulsive pride.”
Manager Tim Burton said, “Steve brought new energy this season. It was fun and creative.”
Expanding the cast and chaos
This season we promise more time, including Enid (Emma Years), Bianca (Joy Sunday), Tyler (Hunter Doohan), and what he’s been faithful so far. Fred Armisen’s uncle Fester has also returned in a bigger role.
Also featured in the cast is Joanna Lumley as Morticia’s mother, Hester. “It’s always thrilling to work for Tim Burton,” Lumley said. “The world they created here on Wednesday, Nevermore and their families are just intoxicating.”
Jenna Ortega returns to her shoes on Wednesday
“Wednesday Adams is one of the coolest characters of all time,” said Ortega, who is the producer this season. “It’s so much fun to be able to slide back into the costume and tone… She runs the circle around everyone who’s having a conversation.”
Season 2 will be released in two parts
Wednesday’s season 2 will premiere in two parts on Netflix. Part 1 arrives on August 6th, followed by Part 2 on September 3rd.
