“Wednesday” Season 2: Netflix drops first 6 minutes and checks Lady Gaga’s role

Netflix announced the first six minutes of season two on Wednesday. AddamsTeen Sleuth has not wasted any time diving into another pathological mystery. The opening sequence revealed during the Netflix Tudum 2025 live event was combined with confirmations of big casting news. Lady Gaga is officially participating in the series.

Wednesday summer plans? Serial Killer Hunting

Here again the season premiere of the disastrous title opens on Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) tied up in a basement filled with handmade dolls. But before we reached that twisted scene, we got her summer break back. Of course, it included chasing a serial killer known as the Kansas City scalper.

The flashback shows young trauma classmates on Wednesday in a school presentation on murderer crime. The hunt ultimately leads her and her trusty companions to their latest suspects: Chet (played by Haley Joel Osment), a pet groomer with a very creepy taste and a suspicious obsession with her hair.

Wednesday tries to chase him, but the encounters spark a vision – only this time something is different. Her spiritual powers glitch, and black tears surge down her face. “This season, Wednesday’s psychic vision will change,” co-creator Miles Miles told Tudum. “It’s tough to get her back to life throughout the season.”

As for that twisted basement scene, Chet presents a doll made with Wednesday’s image. Her response? It’s absolutely no doubt. “Show me some of my own handiwork,” she tells him just before things explode from the doll.

The sequence ends on Wednesday with the knife ominously lifting to the now-terrifying Chet.

Behind the scenes breakdown of the opening

Following the footage premiere, creators Alfred Goff and Miles Miller provided scene-by-scene breakdowns for the teaser, revealing some ideas that didn’t go to the screen.

“We said, ‘What will we do during the summer holidays on Wednesday?”, and uploaded it to the Netflix site Tudum on the Easter Egg Breakdown VID. “It felt like chasing a serial killer was the perfect thing she could do.”

The opening sequence originally included even more surreal moments, such as a visit to Starbucks and a dog’s Napper Takedown. “The first part of the teaser was that she mastered her powers,” explained Miller. “She had this kind of spell over Goody’s book, but the pendant changed from black to red.”

They also confirmed that the team is heading for a cold open that rivals the current Piranha pool scene this season 1. “And obviously… you get someone’s nuts, you know…”

Even the airport scene, which was stopped on Wednesday on a sunscreen tube while carrying the weapons arsenal, was rooted in actual nuisance. “This is based on an obsession with the size of carry-on fluids at London’s Heathrow Airport,” Goff said.

When casting Hailey Joel Osment as Chet, Goff saw the character as a “cosmetic school dropout” and became a hair-obsessed pet groomer and murder. According to Miller, the underground hideaway filled with the dolls of his victims was described as “incredibly creepy.” “The art department went beyond puppets.”

Lady Gaga joins the cast as Rosalyn Lottwood

Netflix confirmed that Lady Gaga is heading for Nevermore Academy. The Grammy Award winner and Oscar-nominated actress will appear in Season 2 on Wednesday as Rosalyn Lottwood, the “mysterious and mysterious” teacher who was featured in Part 2 of the season.

The casting was announced live on Tudum’s stage, given an extended musical performance to fans. Awakening from co, Gaga performed “Zombie Boy”, “Bloody Mary” and “Abracadabra.” It marked one of the biggest moments of fan events and helped hype the arrival of what could become one of the most interesting characters of the season.

Season 2 brings familiar faces, fresh enemies and twisted mysteries

As teased by co-showrunners and executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, Season 2 is increasing both scale and darkness.

“This season, Wednesday’s journey is darker and more complicated as we navigate family, friends, new mysteries and old enemies,” Gough and Millar told Tudum.

Miller may think Wednesday is dealing with a creepy school environment, but added that things won’t go as expected.

The new season brings back familiar faces, including Catherine Zeta Jones, Lewis Guzmann and Isaac Ordonez.

Among the new faces of the series’ regulars are Steve Buscemi, Billy Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah B. Taylor. The season also features an impressive lineup of guest stars, featuring Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Tandiwe Newton, Francis O’Connor, Heather Matarazzo, Junas Stamo and the aforementioned Lady Gaga and Haley Joel Osment.

Release date confirmed for season 2

Netflix confirmed that Wednesday’s season 2 will arrive in two parts. Part 1 premiered on August 6th, followed by Part 2 on September 3rd.
