Netflix has dropped a trailer for Waterfront, a drama series that is immersed in secrets, scandals and southern tensions. The eight-episode saga, led by Holt McCallany, Maria Bello, Melissa Benoist, and Jake Wary, comes from Kevin Williamson, creator of Scream and Dawson’s Creek. Please see the above for more details.
A family legacy under threat
Buckley has long dominated the local fishing and restaurant industry. However, Patriarch Harlan Buckley (McCarlan) is on the sidelines with two heart attacks, with his wife Bell (Bello) and his son’s wand (tired) scrambling to bring things together.
Meanwhile, daughter Brie (Benoist) recovers from her son and becomes estranged, finds herself in a relationship where she can further fracture the family. As the situation spirals, Harlan retreats and decides to save the empire he has built, regardless of cost.
“This is about a working man trying to do it for his family,” Williamson told Netflix’s site Tudum. “They pulled them up from nothing and built this mini fishing empire in a small, small town. They are being taken away little by little. They represent their family, so they do anything to hold onto it.”
He said, “It’s almost a lot of people who make mistakes. They do some bad things and then they go deeper and deeper.
A familiar setting with cast
The ensemble cast includes McCarlany, Bello, Benoist and tired, along with Rafael L. Silva, Humberly Gonzales, Daniel Campbell and Brady Hepner. Guest stars include Topher Grace, Dave Annable and Zach Roerig. This is the familiar face of Williamson’s The Vampire Diaries.
The waterfront was filmed in Wilmington and Southport, North Carolina. It was Williamson’s homecoming and previously used the area for iconic projects like last summer and Dawson Creek.
Marcos Siega (You, Dexter: New Blood) will direct the first two episodes, with the executive producing the pilot. Benfast Executive produces for Outer Banks Entertainment.
