This year, Jeep took a different approach to Super Bowl ads, releasing a patriotic, stylish owner’s manual. This is a two-minute commercial starring Harrison Ford and directed by James Mangold (the entirely unknown Logan, Walk the Line). Look up.
This ad presents Ford to reflect the lack of a guidebook to navigate life choices and their choices. “Pick something that makes you happy. My friends, my family, my work makes me happy,” Ford said in the ad, playfully acknowledging his competitor brand and his own name. . “This Jeep makes me happy… My name is Ford.” The ad includes a brief moment when Jeep Wrangler overtakes the Ford Bronco.
Unlike the regular high energy Super Bowl commercials, Jeep chose a more suppressed tone. “We worked very closely with each other to create intimate films that stand out through their quiet nature,” explained Olivier Francois, Stellantis’ global chief marketing director, in a statement. “I’m very opposed to how viewers are now expecting large game commercials.”
Ford described the project as a simple and direct message, noting that this was part of what he was attracted to sign up for. “I said ‘Yes’ to do this commercial for the sake of the script. It’s a very simple communication about life and ends with riding a jeep. That’s the hook. There was no need to reintroduce yourself. In my life, I point to the fact that I am known for a particular project or role. It’s a quiet story from someone who shares ideas. I love the way it was developed. ”
“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the future,” said Bob Brodeldorf, CEO of Jeep Brand. In the film, Harrison Ford overcomes the odds and flew from one side of the galaxy to the other side to all of its name. In real life, he is known to burn his trails. So, yes, Ford knows one or two about what the Jeep brand is. ”
Multinational car manufacturer Stellantis is the only car manufacturer broadcast commercial for this year’s game, featuring both Jeep and RAM in its large game lineup.
