Vin Diesel has confirmed that fans are ongoing to have an emotional reunion of 11th, last fast & furious installments, with plans to somehow bring back Paul Walker’s Brian O’Connor for the franchise’s final lap.

Diesel, who appeared at Fuelfest in Pomona, California, called out to a large number of fans and shared the conditions in which he took a universal photo when asked about his upcoming film. “The studio told me, “Vin, please give me a Fast and Furious (In) finale in April 2027,” he told the audience. “I said, “Under three conditions.” First, the franchise was to return to LA.

Diesel didn’t go into further detail, but the final point sent waves of cheers through the crowd. Walker, who died in a car accident at the age of 40 in 2013, was filming a ferocious 7 at the time of his death. The film was finally completed with a use of CGI, a stand-up performance from his brothers Cody and Caleb Walker, and a carefully constructed farewell sequence in which Dom and Brian are closed as they drive separate roads.

If Universal moves forward with another Brian look, it could be necessary to have a similar visual effects approach, or perhaps more ambitious. For now, Diesel’s comments are open to interpretation, but show that the character reunion is on the card.

The 11th Fast & Furious film has long been expected to serve as the franchise finale. The final entry, Fast X, hit cinemas in May 2023, surpassing US$704 million worldwide from a price tag of 340 million. A massive ensemble that included Jason Momoa as the main villain, the film was sold as the first chapter in a two-part conclusion, but the delays and evolutionary direction of the series have made fans unclear as to whether Fast 11 will continue the story directly or pivot towards a more standalone send-off.

Diesel’s latest comments imply a return to the previous DNA of the series. This is not a glove hopping spy, it’s that of Los Angeles street racing culture and grounded action. It remains to be seen whether the final film will reach all three of his requests.

Although the official release date has not been locked in by Universal, Diesel’s remarks place a tentative premier window in April 2027. Once everything goes into planning, the franchise may be back to its roots.

According to Fuelfest’s Vin Diesel, Fast & Furious 11 will be released in April 2027
