Over the next few years, DC’s lineup of movies and shows will change significantly. Fortunately, it’s not all bad news, despite the wave of cancellations affecting everything from Batgirl movies to HBO Max shows like Titans and Doom Patrol. James Gunn and Peter Safran are currently co-CEOs of DC Studios and are developing a strategy for a more tightly interconnected content lineup going forward. It all starts with the first chapter, called “Gods and Monsters.”
It’s very difficult to keep track of all the big changes in DC these days. That’s why we’ve created a comprehensive list of all ongoing projects, as well as major projects that have been officially canceled or put on hiatus.

Superman & Lois: Season 4 (October 7, 2024)
The Arrowverse as we once knew it is over. They even claim that when The Flash ends in 2023, the only show left will take place on a different Earth than most of the remaining Arrowverse shows. –Superman and Lois. Observers expected the show to be canceled after season 3, but a 10-episode fourth and final season aired on October 7 (the cast and budget were reportedly cut). ).
Creature Commando Animated Series (December 5, 2024)
Surprisingly, Gunn is relying on one of DC’s least known properties to launch the new DCU. Gunn wrote the seven-episode first season of the animated series, which follows Amanda Waller assembling an alternate team of imprisoned super-criminals to save the world. The Creature Commandos series is scheduled to be released in December 2024, with Superman defeated once and for all.

Superman (July 11, 2025)
We can all stop holding our breath for Man of Steel 2. Rather than pursuing a sequel to the 2013 film, DC is pursuing a new take on the character with Superman (formerly known as Superman: Legacy). James Gunn wrote and directed this Superman movie, which features a young Clark Kent early in his career as a reporter (though it’s not an original story). The film depicts Clark’s struggle to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his Kansas upbringing and deal with the challenges of being a kind hero in an unkind world. The film is shaping up to be one of the first and most important entries in the revamped DCU line.
David Corenswet will play Superman, Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane, and X-Men: First Class star Nicholas Hoult will play Lex Luthor.
Sandman Season 2 (2025)
Although it received widespread critical acclaim and appeared to be a huge success in its debut on Netflix, it took several months for the streamer to announce a renewal for The Sandman. Netflix eventually confirmed that new episodes were in the works, but initially avoided referring to it as “Season 2.” This may suggest that Netflix plans to release new episodes gradually, similar to the surprise release of the 11th episode after season 1.
Peacemaker Season 2 (2025)
Not everything has been completely rebooted for the new DCU. James Gunn’s Peacemaker will have an Amanda Waller spin-off series and a second season. Not much is known about season 2 yet, but Gunn did tease a mysterious character on social media in October 2024.

Supergirl: Tomorrow’s Women (June 26, 2026)
The new DCU will also feature a new Supergirl. Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow is a movie based on the comic book of the same name by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. Supergirl spent much of her childhood living on the debris of the planet Krypton, which was peeled off from Earth’s destruction, in what Gunn describes as a “horrifying situation where she watched everyone around her die.” House of the Dragon’s Millie Alcock plays Supergirl, and Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella) directs.
Batman Part II (October 2, 2026)
Of course, The Batman Part II is in the works, with Matt Reeves returning to write and direct, and Robert Pattinson once again donning the cape, cowl, and eyeliner (!) as Detective Dark Knight. It has been confirmed that the film has survived recent turmoil at Warner Bros. Discovery, with Reeves also signing a multi-year first-look deal with the studio. There’s no word yet on what it will be about, so start speculating about Joker now. In March 2024, the film’s release date was pushed back a full year from October 2025 to October 2026.
The Brave and the Bold (in development)
DC has confirmed that it will produce two upcoming Batman films as the DCU plans to produce its own Dark Knight alongside Matt Reeves’ standalone Batman film. . The Brave and the Bold seems to be about the entire Batfamily, especially Bruce Wayne’s 10-year-old son Damian. The film draws heavily from Grant Morrison’s Batman comics. It’s unclear how the film will tie into the events of The Flash, but it has been confirmed that Andy Muschietti, who directed The Flash, will direct The Brave and the Bold.
The Authority (in development)
DC’s Anti-Justice League is set to get its own movie in the new DCU. The Authority is a group of powerful heroes who take a much more proactive approach to achieving justice.
Swamp Thing (in development)
Swamp Thing may not have been very successful in the short-lived DC Universe app, but DC is still betting big on this roaming monster for a new movie universe. The movie Swamp Thing explores the dark origins of Alec Holland’s monstrous alter ego. Logan and Indiana Jones 5 director James Mangold is writing the script for the film.
Teen Titans (in development)
Following the conclusion of Max’s Titans series, Teen Titans is returning to live-action. THR reports that a new Teen Titans movie is in the works, with the script written by Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow screenwriter Ana Nogueira. It’s unclear if this film is intended to be part of the DCU or an independent project.
Bane/Deathstroke movie (in development)
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that DC Studios is developing a villain-centric team-up movie featuring Bane and Deathstroke. The screenplay will be written by Matthew Orton (Captain America: Brave New World). It’s unclear whether the project will be set in James Gunn’s DCU, Matt Reeves’ Batman universe, or a completely separate universe like Joker.
Dynamic Duo (Animated Robin Origin Movie) (in development)
According to James Gunn, the Dynamic Duo will tell the origin story of not one, but two Robins, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd. The film is directed by Arthur Mintz, who uses a combination of animation, puppetry, CGI, and live-action performances in his new animation studio Swaybox. Sigh.
Waller TV series (in development)
This Peacemaker spinoff sees Viola Davis reprise her role as Amanda Waller in a series based on the ending of Peacemaker: Season 1. Several other Peacemaker alumni will also be returning.
Booster Gold TV Series (in development)
The lovably goofy Booster Gold is getting his own series as part of the new DCU. Booster Gold explores impostor syndrome in a character who travels back in time and uses futuristic technology to become a modern-day superhero.
Lost Paradise TV series (in development)
While a new Wonder Woman movie won’t be released anytime soon, DC is developing a TV series set on Themyscira. Paradise Lost explores the origins and political intrigue of Princess Diana’s home. The series is being promoted as DC’s version of Game of Thrones.
Lantern TV series (in development)
We finally (hopefully) get to see the much-promised Green Lantern show. Lanterns is a high-concept detective drama in the vein of True Detective. The series revolves around Hal Jordan and Jon Stewart. It is unclear whether the series is connected to Green Lantern Corps, the show Greg Berlanti previously executive produced on HBO Max. Kyle Chandler has been cast as Hal, and Aaron Pierre has been cast as John.
