As Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) approaches, we’ve put together a list of some great events to keep an eye on this year.
Screen Australia is hosting a week of gaming exhibitions, showcases and events to unite and inspire the industry, including Games Connect Asia Pacific (GCAP), PAX Aus and Australian from 3 to 13 October 2024. , we are delighted to support MIGW, hosted by Creative Victoria. The Local Lounge is your chance to get involved with Australia’s next generation of exciting games and the talented creators behind them. Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Center is where you can see the Screen Australia Games team and our amazing independent crews and game makers in action, showcasing a rotating line-up of Australian independent games, all funded through Screen Australia . Additionally, in partnership with the Gender Issues Task Force, Tuesday’s Local Lounge Showcase will feature games with a focus on gender diversity. After attending the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco in support of Screen Australia, representatives Jojo Zhou – I Think I Need a Writer: Tools for Troubleshooting Narrative (Monday 7 October) and Jessica Lyon – Watch these talks by Trials, Tribulations, and Jessica Lyon. Start your day at the Gender Issues Breakfast hosted by Screen Australia and the Gender Issues Taskforce at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Center on Tuesday 8 October at 8am. The networking breakfast focused on expressing support for and addressing the underrepresentation of women and gender diverse practitioners in the Australian games industry. To celebrate 10 years of Parallels creativity, the event will take place on Thursday 10 October at the beautiful and monumental Melbourne Town Hall, featuring an evening of installations and music, alongside talks and playable games from some of Australia’s most established talent.
