Tom Holland will appear in Christopher Nolan’s next film alongside Matt Damon in a secret project.
Nolan wrote and directed the film, which will be distributed by Universal Pictures. The studio has set the release date for July 17, 2026.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but sources say the film will not be set in modern times. However, it is unclear whether the setting is the future or the past.
Nolan is producing with his wife and producing partner Emma Thomas under their production company Syncopy.
The feature reunites Nolan with the studio behind Oppenheimer, the drama that won him his first Oscar. The film grossed $976 million worldwide, for which he won the award for best director as producer and the award for best picture.
Oppenheimer is Nolan’s first time working with Universal, and the collaboration began after his public split with Warner Bros. at the end of 2020. Sources say Oppenheimer was acquired by Universal through a public auction, but this new project was brought directly to the studio. .
This will be the first time for Holland to work with the highly regarded director. However, this is not Damon’s first time working with Nolan, having previously worked with him on Interstellar and Oppenheimer.
Sources say Holland is expected to be busy next year as he will spend most of his time working on two Marvel projects, Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: Doomsday. With the release of Spider-Man 4 postponed, Holland’s co-star Zendaya will be filming Dune 3 in early 2026 instead of next year.
Holland last appeared in the 2023 Apple TV miniseries The Crowded Room and is repped by WME and Sloane Offer.
