Whodunit with wit and heart
Based on Richard Osman’s bestselling novel, the film meets weekly to investigate a cold case, former Spy Elizabeth (Millen), former Union activist Ron (Brosnan), former psychiatrist Ibrahim (Kingsley), and former Noors Joyce (Imley). However, when they stumble over an actual murder, their hobbies become dangerous.
Netflix-Amblin productions are directed by Home Alone, Harry Potter and Sorcerer’s Stone Filmmaker Chris Columbus. “The mystery fans will be very happy because there is a great mystery at the heart of it,” Columbus told Netflix’s website Tudum. “But it is interesting to see four elderly people living in a retirement community who are fascinated by death and murder. They are facing their own end mise, but at the same time they are obsessed with studying cold cases.
Columbus also praised the ensemble cast, telling Tudum:

Osman told Tudum that he found inspiration for the novel in his mother’s retirement community: “You’re just sitting down and chatting with these people, hearing these amazing stories and gossip and wisdom. The perfect people (crime) that those with wisdom and those with invisibility solve, exactly the idea that Thursday’s murder club will come.”
A strong cast supporting four leads, including Naomi Ackey, Daniel Mays, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Price, David Tennant, Paul Freeman, Jeff Bell, Richard E. Grant and Ingrid Oliver.
Thursday’s Murder Club will premiere on Netflix on August 28th.
