Prime Video has released the official trailer for The Wrecking Crew, an action comedy set in Hawaii starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista as estranged half-brothers. It looks like a fun ride with plenty of action and a lively clash of energies between the two, even if the trailers probably over-depict the mayhem along the way a little too much. Watch the trailer above, then read on for more details.
The plot follows Johnny (Momoa) and James (Bautista) who reunite after the mysterious death of their father. As they begin to pull the strings, secrets surface, loyalties waver, and the trail points to a conspiracy that could tear the family apart. Stephen Root’s Sergeant warns James, “You’re definitely going to poke a bear who doesn’t like being poked.” James replied: “Trust me when I say I’m a bear,” with a brotherly jab, cueing chases, shootouts, and brawls. “You’ve gained weight,” James tells Johnny. “You look old,” Johnny retorted.
The supporting cast includes Claes Bang (The Square), Temuera Morrison (The Book of Boba Fett), Jacob Batalon (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Frankie Adams (The Expanse), Miyavi (Unbroken), and Morena Baccarin (Deadpool).
The film will be directed by Angel Manuel Soto, following his work on The Blue Beetle and Charm City Kings, and written by Jonathan Tropper, who previously worked with Momoa on Sea. Both stars also serve as producers along with Jeff Fierson, Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris.
“The Wrecking Crew” will be released on Prime Video on January 28th.
