The official trailer arrived for the new FX series by Fargo Creators and Emmy Award-winning Noah Holy Alien: Earth: Earth. Look up and dig deeper below.
The highly anticipated show expands the alien universe in a bold new direction, blending horror, world buildings and corporate dystopias with a story set over 100 years before Ripley’s mission on Nostromo.
Crush Landing, Corporate, Hybrid named Wendy
Set in 2120, the series begins with the mysterious crash of the Deep-Space Vessel USCSS Maginot in the middle of Prodigy City, and triggers a response from a tactical team led by a human hybrid named Wendy (Sydney Chandler). When she and a group of soldiers investigate the wreckage, they encounter something much worse than the corporate secrets. Ancient deadly forces have arrived on Earth.
The Earth is currently dominated by five powerful companies: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. Their advances include synthesis, cyborgs, and more recently, hybrid-humanoid robots embedded in human consciousness. The first Wendy of her kind represents a fundamental leap in the immortal competition. But survival may be a greater concern when it is revealed that a crashed ship carries “five different life forms from the darkest horns of the universe.”
A familiar monster, a new nightmare
The trailer wastes no time introducing the franchise’s most iconic threat, Xenomorph. A glimpse into the horrifying creatures, including the infamous eggs and facehuggers, confirms that the Holy series is not far from the original horror DNA. The facehugger design appears to have a more reddish tone this time, suggesting fresh aesthetic or biological variation.
But it’s not just the old horrors on display. The trailer is also T. Tease new monsters, such as jellyfish-like lifeforms identified as ocellus. Another unsettling visual hint suggests a possible variant of scorpion. It probably refers to the scorie aliens seen in expanded franchise media.
One narration line raises the eyebrows. “This ship collected five different life forms from the darkest horns of the universe. Monsters… invasive species. Predatory.” The predatory words and short clicks sparked speculation among fans that Alien: Earth might be bullying their connection to the predator franchise.
The story of the core human
The monsters are looming large, but Alien: Earth also lies fear in identity and consciousness. A hybrid lead, Wendy carries the heart of a child within a powerful adult body. Speaking to EW, Sidney Chandler said, “Children are so present, they’re not as abused by the world as adults. They trust their guts, not a second guess.”
The show’s wider cast includes Timothy Oliphant, Alex Rother, Samuel Brenkin, Babou Sheey, Adrian Edmondson, David Lisdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Elana James, Adarsh Gouraf, Jonathan Ajay, Kit Young, Di Kamille, Moe Baleu, and Sandra Yiy Suncinder.
Executive Alien: Earth is produced by Noah Holy and produced by Holy, Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Joseph Eberty, Dana Gonzalez and Clayton Kruger.
