Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for The Seven Dials, a three-part adaptation of Agatha Christie’s 1929 novel by author Chris Chibnall (Broadchurch, Doctor Who). Front and center: a fresh detective, a country house twist, and a cast led by Mia McKenna-Bruce, Helena Bonham Carter and Martin Freeman. Watch the teaser above and read the information below.
plot
England in 1925. It looks like a prank goes fatally wrong at a party at a luxurious country house. The unlikeliest of detectives, Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, takes on the case and unfolds a mystery that is a “witty, epic and fast-paced” twist on the classic country house puzzle.
Christie’s 1929 novel The Seven Dials Mystery originally featured Bundle Brent and characters introduced in The Secret of the Chimney, published in 1925, including Lord Caterham, Bill Eversley, George Lomax, Treadwell, and Superintendent Battle. Initial critical response to the book was mixed, praising its ingenuity but questioning the change in style from the investigation of a single cold case to a broader conspiracy. Consider this new screen and take the opportunity to revisit these materials with the latest snaps.
cast
BAFTA Rising Star winner Mia McKenna-Bruce (Vampire Academy, Persuasion) plays Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent. “Chris Chibnall’s script is fantastic and I’m thrilled to be a part of this new take on iconic Agatha Christie storytelling,” McKenna-Bruce told Netflix’s Tudom.
The ensemble includes Helena Bonham Carter (One Life, Nollie) as Lady Caterham, Martin Freeman (The Responder, Black Panther) as Battle, and Corrie as Jerry Wade. Also included are Milchrest (Queen Charlotte), Ed Blumel (Sex Education, Killing Eve) as Jimmy Thesiger, and Nabaan Rizwan (KAOS) as Ronnie Devereux.
