As expected before it was revealed, Nvidia confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 uses a version of the DLSS upscaling technology. This allows Switch 2 to run games at low resolution and at high resolution using AI Upscaling.
Aside from checking that technology, there were no confirmations from Nintendo or other publishers of how the games are using it, but CD Projekt Red confirmed that it uses the technology on Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2.
CD Projekt Red confirmed with Digital Foundry that Cyberpunk 2077 uses NVIDIA DLSS upscaling technology on the Nintendo Switch 2.
“We use a version of DLSS available on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware with Nvidia tensor core,” the publication said. “This game uses DLSS in all four modes. Handheld and docking, with variations in performance and quality for each.”
Interestingly, this also confirmed that the game has performance and quality modes in both handheld and docking modes. Quality mode runs at 30 fps, performance mode runs at 40 fps, docked in handheld mode, run at 1080p/30 fps, and performance mode runs at 720p/40 fps.
