Earlier this week I wrote an article about the myths of Common Nintendo Switch 2 being exposed. Part of that was the fact that the Switch 2 uses a new type of MicroSD card with just a few options available.
Sadly, I’ve still seen three separate people who purchased a MicroSD card that is not compatible with the Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch 2 can only use MicroSD Express cards, which provide faster read/write speeds required for Switch 2 games. These use a PCIe interface that allows you to reach fast and should not be confused with other MicroSD cards with similar names, including MicroSD Extreme other than Express, MicroSD Ultra, or other types of MicroSD.
When released locally, there are two compatible ones. One is the officially licensed Sandisk MicroSD card of 256GB, and interestingly, the HomeBrand Atrix comes in a 256GB-1TB variation.
Currently, stock is limited, but I don’t think it’s long ago that we’ll see others pop up from Samsung or cheaper alternatives. The switch also has an internal 256GB of storage.

Definitely, for me, the easy brainer is two starter packs.
If protection is what you’re looking for, there are plenty of screen protectors and cases.
There are also many grips and magnetic charging stands I absolutely love:
