We all waited for the numbers to arrive, but Nintendo confirmed that Nintendo’s Switch 2 HA sold 3.5 million units in the first four days of sale.
These are the global sales of consoles, and Nintendo has confirmed that this is the fastest console release ever, but it’s far ahead of the absolute taste of console releases that have occurred.
For comparison, the Nintendo Switch sold 2.74 million units in its first month, while the PS5 sold 3.4 million units in the first four weeks of sales, so the fact that the Nintendo Switch 2 was able to sell 3.5 million units in the first four days is absolutely ridiculous. To put this into perspective, the steam deck has sold approximately 3.7 million units (by analysts) over the past 4 years since its release.
Nintendo had been preparing stock for the Nintendo Switch 2 for almost a year, but the units still sold out instantly in the US, Japan and Europe, with millions unable to obtain stock on the first day.
With the Nintendo Switch 2 having a stellar launch lineup through the end of the year and stocks still sold out around the world, it will be interesting to see how this number continues to grow.
