The first trailer arrived for a highly anticipated follow-up to the past life of materialist and writer-director Cerin Song. Look up.
The song once again deals with a kind of love triangle, but it gives a different twist to this New York set drama. Johnson plays Lucy, an ambitious matchmaker whose job is to find the perfect person for others. Ironically, it is her own love life that she finds herself caught between two very different men, the charming and wealthy Randy played by Pascal, and her less perfect original John, played by Evans. Do you have both of these after you? Ah, poor, poor Lucy.
The two and a half minute trailer juggles the two relationships and teases Lucy’s inner conflict when she wonders where her heart should lean. “When you look at your face, you see wrinkles and kids that look like you,” Evans’ John tells her. “So, where will it leave us?”
The film also stars Zoe Winters, Marine Ireland, Dasha Nekrasova, Louisa Jacobson, Sawyer Spielberg, Eddie Cahill and Fernando Bello. Behind the scenes, Song reunites with past life producers David Hinojosa, along with killer films Christine Vacon and Pamela Koffler.
The Materialist is scheduled to open at Australian cinemas on June 12th and at US cinemas on June 13th.
