Disney Lorcana is about to hit one of the biggest milestones in trading card games since its launch. The nine sets of Disney & Ravensburger TCG were released on August 29th (mass release on September 5th). Ravensburger’s team is called the Fabled A ‘Celebration’ set, with 171 cards being reprinted in the first four sets by players and collectors, with 33 being completely new cards. With the release of Fabled, there will also be a massive shakeup to the card game. It’s the biggest card rotation.
For those unfamiliar or new to the TCG world, card rotation is where the standard way of playing in local Game Store Leagues, competitive tournaments, and built plays is where certain options are not deselected. For Disney Lorcana, the release of Fabled shows that the outbreak of the first four sets of franchise is no longer legal to play in these core-built formats (with your home/friends?
So the reason why most of the cards in the legendary set are reprints is that they give the opportunity to grab some of the key cards in the core, deck structure, and a way to say goodbye to new players and players who started their Lorcana journey a little later to some of the original cards in the OP who have acquired arms and legs to get their first playset since its release. Card rotation, along with some of the new cards in the legendary set, brings a whole new way of playing. This means it’s the perfect time for those who are into gaming and for those who mean newcomers and learning games.
In addition to rotating and reprinting the cards, Fabled introduces two new rarities to Disney Locana: epic and iconic. Iconic cards are the most unusual cards that you can chase as a collector. There are only two per set, incredibly rare and far less common than the enchanting cards. With beautiful full card artwork, special lore star foil patterns and new 3D hot stamping, these iconic cards become the ultimate reward for shiny card hunters!
As for new epic cards, these are now rarities between legendary cards and enchantments. Each set has 18 epic cards, which are a little easier to find than the enchanting cards (a much-needed hope for someone like me who has achieved one charm in the previous eight sets!).
And speaking of epic cards, we have the absolute joy of revealing the only thing here and now… Here’s how we return to the game with a new shiny, epic look.
Robin Hood – A capable fighter brings it back to life in an epic way with the release of Fabled. This Dreamborn Hero 2 ink cost, Unkinkable Card has been a fan favorite since it was released on Rise on the Floodborn set. With 1 strength and 3 willpower, Robin Hood can take a mean blow to his opponent’s board with his skirmish ability. From the heart of Nouka’s creative illustrations, fans of Lolkana continue to enjoy themselves with Robin Hood (a competent fighter with beautiful, frameless, epic shiny cards).
All I can do is imagine the expression on the face of my opponent when I drop a new, epic version of Robin Hood (a competent fighter). Then, turn him later into the seductive Robin Hood – Champion of Sherwood – the ultimate Flex!
The Disney Locana legend was released on August 29th, 2025 at a local game store, and a massive retail release will be made on September 5th, 2025.
