‘The Last Thing He Told Me’ Season 2 Trailer: Jennifer Garner Returns for Bigger, More Dangerous Chapter

Apple TV+ has released the official trailer for Season 2 of The Last Thing He Told Me, starring Jennifer Garner as Hannah Hall faces a more dangerous chapter for her family. Watch the trailer above and read on to find out what’s revealed.

A reunion that risked everything

Season 2 picks up five years after Owen’s disappearance, and the trailer confirms what Hannah has feared for years. He is still alive, and his return will have consequences. When Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) resurfaces after years on the run, Hannah and her stepdaughter Bailey (Angourie Rice) are forced to race to reunite the family before the past catches up with them.

While season 1 focused on Hannah and Bailey learning how to live on the same trajectory, this season looks to build on that bond and stress test it under pressure. Hannah is no longer just trying to keep the peace. She’s trying to keep them all alive.

More action, bigger stakes, and nowhere is safe

The trailer quickly leans into escalation. Hannah is shown in knife fights, car chases, and even getting into a boxing ring, showcasing the season’s sharper, more physical edge. The central threat appears to be a crime family connected to Owen’s past, and they’re not treating Hannah and Bailey as bystanders.

New cast members include Judy Greer and Rita Wilson, with Greer’s appearance also serving as a mini-reunion of 13 Going on 30 members. In one moment in the trailer, Greer’s character issues a blunt warning: “There’s a crime family trying to kill you.” It’s a line that makes the season’s agenda clear.

Cast, creative and release details

The season will also see the return of David Morse, along with Coster-Waldau and Rice, as well as additional cast members including Augusto Aguilera, Josh Hamilton, Nick Hargrove, Michael Galante, John Noble, Michael Hyatt, Luke Kirby, and Elizabeth O’Donnell.

Season 2 is based on Laura Dave’s sequel novel, The First Time I Saw Him. Dave will continue as creator and executive producer alongside co-showrunner Josh Singer, and will be joined by Aaron Zelman as co-showrunner this season. The series is produced by 20th Television and Hello Sunshine, with Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Neustadter and Garner also serving as executive producers.

The Last Thing He Told Me Season 2 will premiere on Apple TV+ on February 20th, with episodes released weekly until April 10th.
