From the heart behind the Purge, the upcoming horror thriller sees Pete Davidson, who reveals ominous secrets in the home of a nightmare old man. Check out the trailer above and see more details below.
Davidson is trading punchlines from purge creator James DeMonaco in this new horror film. The Saturday Night Live alum plays Max, a 20-something man who is sentenced to community services, which should have been a quiet nursing home. Of course, things are very wrong.
At first, Max’s punishment seems like an easy gig. It is likely that residents will need “special care” until he is warned about the fourth floor. It doesn’t take long for him to be drawn into the creepy underberry of the facility. There, whispers turn into screams, and the elderly turn into something much more dangerous. “There’s a lot of problem with this place,” an older woman tells him early. She’s not wrong.
The trailer quickly creates a creepy vibe, suggesting violent explosions, strange medical experiments, and a general atmosphere that feels more like Session 9 than Coco. “Hey guy, I’m not going to hurt you,” Max pleads to one resident before charging at him.
Director James DeMonaco, who co-wrote the film with Adam Cantor, says he drew inspiration from the roots of the classic genre. “When I tried to build a house, I aimed to capture the spine-chilling eerieness of ’70s horror, where the suspense boils and eventually erupts into a glorious mess,” he explained in a statement. “The one who’ll joins me is my Staten Island brother Pete Davidson, who reveals the dark and dramatic aspects as his character navigates strange groups of residents in his old home.”
Demonaco teases horror fans in return. “The growing tensions culminate in an epic bloody finale designed to breathe, horrifying, cheering audiences. No one can wait for a visit to their home. Cover your eyes, people.”
With the cast, including John Glover and Bruce Altman, we will hit our cinemas on July 25th.
