The teaser trailer arrived for Troll 2, the sequel to Netflix, the 2022 Norwegian Creature feature hit. Norway seems to be in trouble again.
Director Roar Uthaug (Tomb Raider, The Wave) returns to direct Troll’s follow-up. This is a film that caught Netflix in the storm at the time, and became the most viewed non-English original on more than 100 million platforms. The military is more prepared this time, but whether UV lights and machines are enough to stop the new troll rampage is a whole other question.
The troll returns (but not the same)
The first film introduces towering folktales who awakened in the Dog Mountains, stopping the path of destruction across Norway. In Troll 2, interests rise with another dangerous troll and an entirely new crisis for the return of heroes Nora Tideman (Ine Mari Wilman), Andreas Isaacsen (Kim Falk) and Christopher Holm (Mads Suga Gould Pettersen). The cast will be joined by Sarakorami as newcomer Marion.
With time running out and the nation is on the verge of disaster once again, it’s up to this group to stop chaos before it spreads beyond control.
A sequel to the bigger, wilderness troll size
Uthaug has promised a great distance for the fans. “In the sequel, we aim high — expand the range, deepen the story and create troll-sized sights that we’ve never seen before,” he told Netflix’s Tudum. “We can’t wait for fans to experience the adventures we have in our store.”
Producers Espan Horn and Christian Strand Singkal were excited. “It’s always daunting to do a sequel, but this time I feel like I’ve created a better, bigger, more interesting, more adventurous film.
Recreating her role as a paleontologist with a keen mind, Wilman added, “We certainly had a great time making Troll 2 and are really looking forward to sharing it with the world,” saying she has returned to her role “with great respect and excitement.”
release date
Troll 2 will stomp Netflix around the world on December 1st, 2025.
