Updates to the Nintendo Switch 2 system have arrived since its first release. I’ve skipped before version 20.1.5, but as you can imagine, it adds stability.
It’s a bit unusual for Nintendo to jump versions, but many stability fixes are hot fixed when they go, and you may have jumped into the latest version rather than dropping many small ones.
Nintendo Switch 2 Update 20.1.5 (released June 18th, 2025)
Improved stability of common systems to improve user experience.
Normally, Nintendo releases updates that improve stability, but a bit of a meme, there are quite a lot of glitches/bugs people have been experiencing with Nintendo Switch 2, which didn’t exist in the original.
For example, I had some hard lockups just browsing through menus that require a full reboot (I don’t think I’ve experienced one with a Nintendo Switch).
Although we rarely get a solid answer on what this improves (unless Nintendo posts details), we hope that console glitches will become less and less as a result of this update.
