A24 has released the official teaser trailer for the drama, which stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as an engaged couple who begin to unravel after a week of marriage. Equal parts romantic comedy and emotional pressure cooker, it quickly becomes clear that this couple is far from blissfully happy. Watch the trailer above and read what you need to know.
Drama Trailer: Zendaya and Pattinson’s Wedding Week Meltdown
The latest film from director Christopher Bolgli, director of Dream Scenarios (read our review here), focuses on a soon-to-be-married couple, Emma Harwood (Zendaya) and Charlie Thompson (Pattinson), who seem to be the perfect match. The teaser begins with an awkward engagement photoshoot, showing the couple forcing smiles and trying to show affection.
But we’ve heard them list what they like about each other, and some early snippets certainly make it seem like they’re a suitable couple. And then the unraveling begins.
Pattinson’s script struggles (and late night assistant)
Pattinson has spoken candidly about his struggles with Borgli’s script during production, crediting Zendaya with grounding him during particularly difficult scenes. “The scenes we had together drove me crazy,” Pattinson said in an interview with French magazine Premiere (quoted by W Magazine). “I searched desperately for its meaning and wrote page after page of textual analysis.”
Luckily, his co-stars were there to help. Pattinson said he called Zendaya the night before filming. “I shared my doubts with her and we talked for two hours. And after a while, she became very calm and made me understand that the line was just saying what she wanted to say and there was no hidden meaning. So I almost went crazy for three days.”
It’s a neat bit of insight into Borli’s unconventional script and the dynamic between his two leads on and off screen.
A24’s Fake News Stunt
It wouldn’t be an A24 romance without a little outlandish marketing, so the studio planted a fake engagement announcement in the Boston Globe on Dec. 9, complete with Emma and Charlie’s backstory. Framed like a typical “Wedding of the Year” announcement, the ad quietly doubles as a character sheet, immediately sending fans down a rabbit hole of screenshots, zooms, and overanalysis.
The mock presentation provided additional background about Emma and Charlie, reading:
Mr. and Mrs. Roger Harwood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, announced the engagement of their daughter Emma Harwood to Charlie Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Thompson of London, England. Mr. Harwood, a decorated military veteran, is proud of this exciting news.
Ms. Harwood graduated from Portside High School in 2013 and graduated with honors from Boston University in 2017 with a BA in English. She currently works at Mission Books.
Mr. Thompson, the future bridegroom, graduated from Eton College in 2004 and received a doctorate in art history from Tufts University. He is the director of the Cambridge Museum of Art.
Drama cast, characters, release date, etc.
In addition to Zendaya and Pattinson, the drama also stars Alana Haim, Mamoudou Ati, Michael Abbott Jr., Hailey Gates, and Sidney Lemon.
This will be Zendaya and Pattinson’s first on-screen collaboration, but it won’t be their last. The two are set to reunite in Christopher Nolan’s new blockbuster, The Odyssey. But for now, their focus here is on a wedding that seems destined to fall apart.
The drama will be released in U.S. theaters on April 3, 2026.
