The Devil Wears Prada 2: The official trailer for the sequel, which reunites Hathaway, Streep, Blunt and Tucci, arrives

The official trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2 has arrived, and Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs walks through the door once again, transporting us back to the edgy world of the runway. Watch the trailer above and read about the sequel’s new power plays, returning faces, and what’s revealed about the very 2026 problem at the center of it all.

Andy is back on the runway, but Miranda barely remembers her.

The trailer begins with a pointed reminder that time doesn’t necessarily soften Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) or her memory. Nigel (Stanley Tucci) greets Andy with, “Well, look what TJ Maxx dragged me into…” but Miranda stares right at her and has no idea who he is in an amusingly condescending way. “One of Emily’s family,” Nigel urges.

From there, the trailer reveals Andy returning to the runway as features editor, returning to the shiny machine for the first time in years. She is older, calmer and definitely more confident. Even Emily (Emily Blunt), a fellow assistant and former business nemesis, can’t help but chime in: “You’ve changed. You’re a lot more confident. But you still have those eyebrows, right?”

The printing industry is dying and Miranda needs money that she has no control over

The big hook here is not just the reunion, but what Runway is facing. The plot is expected to see Miranda navigate the decline of print journalism and try to keep the magazine relevant as the industry tightens and attention spans shrink. That pressure comes into direct conflict with Emily’s new position as a powerful executive at a high-class group with the advertising dollars Miranda needs, sparking a showdown in which the man who once took orders now holds the keys. It’s a smart angle for a sequel, allowing the film to revisit the workplace politics sting of the original without pretending that the media landscape hasn’t changed.

Cast members comment on their return to the runway

In a first look for Vogue, Streep likened her return to the role to rediscovering something familiar but uncertain: “It was like going into the back of your closet and finding something and thinking, oh, does this still fit?”

Brandt echoed that sense of security, saying the experience was immediately comforting. “It felt like coming home,” she said, later joking that returning to Emily Charlton required little adjustment. “This character is like a glove that fits too easily for me,” Blunt added. “She’s a lunatic. Maybe you should ask yourself why it seems so easy to get back inside her.”

Streep also reflected on the amount of attention the sequel received while it was in production, noting how different the atmosphere was compared to filming the original. “I was so happy when I first showed up on Sixth Avenue. That’s where I shot 20 years ago and no one was interested,” she said. “I got dressed, got out of the camper, and I heard this roar! It was even crazier when we shot the Met Ball, which is my dream. People were dressed up as Miranda! I’ll be honest, I was really surprised.”

Hathaway provided insight into what Andi has been up to between films and how the sequel will do justice to her sophisticated wardrobe. “I made it an actual story point in the film that I had to explain how someone working as a writer in this era could have a great wardrobe,” she explained. Hathaway claimed that Andy spent years doing investigative reporting, traveled frequently, and learned how to build a wardrobe through thrifting and consignment items. “So she’s been frugal for the better part of 20 years,” she said. “And the magical closet moment returns with Nigel.”

Continuing cast, new cast, movie theater release date

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will see the return of Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Stanley Tucci, Tracy Thoms, and Tibor Feldman, while a number of new faces will join the sequel, including Kenneth Branagh, Simone Ashley, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, B.J. Novak, Pauline Chalamet, Rachel Bloom, Patrick Bramall, and Lady Gaga.

It’s also a behind-the-scenes reunion. David Frankel returns as director, Aline Brosh McKenna returns as screenwriter, and Wendy Finerman serves as co-producer with Karen Rosenfelt.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 will be released in Australian cinemas on April 30, 2026, and in US cinemas on May 1, 2026.
