Here, we will introduce the 2024 best movies (part) selected by the SCREENHUB staff in any order. Many other works we like and like are published in this year’s top review. enjoy!
Paul’s 2024 best movie
Poor things (2023, 2024 in Australia)
Emma Stone of “Poor Things”. Image: Searchlight Pictures.
I am a fan of the late Alsdea Gray, a Scottish writer and visual artist who wrote the novel “Poor Things” (1992), which was the original of the Jorgos Lantimos movie for many years.
In Scotland, at least until last year, Gray’s most famous work was Ranark: Life in Four Books, which combines realism and super -realistic maze in Glasgow in Distopia.
The stage of the film “Poor thing” is unlike the original, but thanks to the amazing acting of Robbie Ryan, the excellent script of Australian writer Tony McNamara, and the amazing performance of Emma Stone and Mark Rafaro. The attractive gothic misery of this story remains intact. And Willem Defoe.
It was a feast of the five senses on the proverb, and this year’s Oscar was so praised. I don’t need to enjoy all movies on a big screen, but I think the larger the screen, the better it is (however, the larger the screen, the more it is streaming and distributed, so if you haven’t seen it yet. You need to see it).
I also recommend this book strongly. In the movie, there are only one or two twists (for healthy movie reasons).

Rumors (2024)
rumor. Image: Anti -photo.
How to express comedy satire about the poor condition in the world with a tense and tense ensemble cast? Well, Kate Blanc Shett, Charles Dance, Roy Duppies, Nicky Amka = It may be worse than casting Birds to the G7 State representatives and calling them to the summit in the German forest, but they soon become isolated from everyone and everything. We support them in a habit.
And, as needed, add a huge living brain and undead swamps to make things more interesting.
The success of this work is completely performed and the desire to simply obey the fucking flow as a viewer. I thought it was wonderful, and it is now being screened in the movie theater!

Flow (2024)
flow. Image: DREAM WELL STUDIO/SACREBLEU PRODUCTIONS/TAKE FIVE
“Flow” is a perfect name for a movie that makes me cry, almost unable to control me. It may be because I had to look at this work near the end of MIFF and lie down slowly, or maybe my cat was trapped in the drawer that morning, but this completely silent. In the story, the evacuated cats and their friends of various animals impressed me very much about “surviving the world after the end”, so my husband was a little worried about my mental state.
Flow, animated by Latvian studio, is the best masterpiece provided by the modern animation industry. The appearance is incredibly wonderful, the expression of the animals is anthropomorphic, and it is enough to touch the heart of the mind without becoming a child. It’s no wonder that many awards are awarded.
Flow cannot be streamed yet.
The Taste of Things (2023, 2024 in Australia)
The taste of things. Image: Rialal distribution.
In 2024, many delicious meals appeared in the movie. It is a ravioli made by a monastery in Conclabe. Delicious Apple Jack of “Hundreds of Beavers”. Squid grilled by ghost cat Ans. However, none of them can be the joy of the gastronomy of Taste of Things.
The movie, set in France in 1889, is pursuing the life of two living chefs who delicately recruit each other, making the most delicious dishes that have appeared in the silver screen. The movie shooting is exquisite, not only emphasizes all details of food, but also lights each scene so that the set can be eaten enough. Like cooking, it will be softer by slowly burning.
“The Taste of Things” can be rented or purchased on Prime Video or Apple TV.
Inuko (2021, 2023 Australia)
Inuga. Image: GKIDS/Science SARU
Anime fans will probably know the name of Masaaki Yuasa, the founder of Studio Science SARU, and is highly evaluated as a highly evaluated absurd movie, such as “Mind Game” and “Walk for the night,”. In Inuko, the story of a cursed dancer who hides his malformations with a mask in Japan in the 14th century, and a blind musician who will be his music partner in Japan in the 14th century. I will talk. And rock opera!
The strange, magnificent, and absolutely unforgettable Woji is a work that is loved over the times. Even more unfortunate is that you can’t watch streaming anywhere in Japan. Perhaps it is appropriate to buy a Blu -ray.
“Inuo” cannot be watched in Australia yet.

Housekeeping for beginners (2023)
Zada Serim and Anamaria Marinka of Golan Striffski’s “House Keying for Beginners”. Image provision: focus film.
Family drama by Australian writer and directed by Golan Striffski, filmed in Macedonia, is a rebellious woman who does not want to be a mother, but is rebellious with two girlfriends and small trouble makers. It focuses on having a teenage daughter. This unlikely family must fight to keep united in a society where gays are still a major problem, not to be gay.
It took a little time to understand who was in the first turmoil of this movie, but the truth style of Striffsky is a genius, such as overlap conversations, camera work on hand, shallow depth of field, etc. It became clear that it was a challenge. It evokes the intensity and noise of the evolving family life.
The House Kea Beginar’s Guide was awarded the Quia Lion Award when the premier screening was screened at the 2023 Venice International Film Festival, and became a Macedonia work of the 96th Academy Award for Best Film Award. It was screened as part of the 2023 Adelaide Film Festival (also invested in the Adelaide Film Festival) and released in Australian movie theaters in May 2024.
Housekeeper for Beginners is currently streaming on YouTube, Google TV, Apple TV Store, and Prime Video Store in Australia.

Snail recollection (2024)

Melbourne animator Adam Elliott’s luxurious handmade feature film, Memoir of a Snail, decorated the opening of the Melbourne International Film Festival this year and became one of my outstanding highlights. (At that time, I reviewed it here.)
“Memoir of a Snail” is a tragic and tragedy story of Grace Pudel (rhyme with “muddy swamp”), born in Melbourne in Melbourne in the 1970s. Grace himself, a strange and incompatible person who is crazy about all kinds of snails, is a kind of snail trapped in a shell of loneliness and sadness. Since she flashes back first, we immediately understand why.
The impressive voice cast includes Jackie Weaver, Codi Smit Mcfee, and Paul Capsis. All the frames of this movie, which are extraordinary and ultimately exhilarating, have traces of unstable human beings in the long and intensive local production process, which it is a valuable thing. I am.
“Memoir of a Snail” is still available in a movie theater at the time of writing this article.

Hold Overs (2023)
Hold over. Image: Universal Pictures.
Hold Overs, set in 1970, is forced to remain on the campus in a new England dashi school, during Christmas holidays, to take a few students who have no place to go. This is the story. He deepens his bonds with brain -faced trouble makers (Dominik Cessa) and school chefs who have recently lost their son in Vietnam.
Alexander Pain (“Sideway”, “Elegination”) directed “The Holdovers” in which the photographer, Agil Brild, was taken with great care, and expresses the real 1970’s look and feel. Is an intelligent drama with a real indie atmosphere. I felt old in a good way.
“THE HOLDOVERS” is currently streaming on Netflix and Binge.
