The flock is back together. Paramount Pictures officially announced that Angry Birds Movie 3 is set for a global theatrical release on January 29, 2027.
The cast has also been confirmed, with Jason Sudekis, Josh Gadd, Rachel Bloom and Danny McBride returning to Audio Red, Chuck, Silver and Bomb respectively. Emma Myers, Cake Palmer, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Marcello Hernandez, Walker Scobel, Sam Richardson, Anna Caskirt, Mytrey Ramakrishnan, Nicky Glazer, James Auston Johnson, Psalm West.
John Rice, who directed the first film, returns to the director’s chair. The script comes from Thurop Van Orman, author of Angry Birds Movie 2. Thuropvan Orman is produced alongside Nakahara. The producer team included John Cohen, Dan Chuba and Cara Connor, and Heiter Pereira returned to process the scores after composing the first two musics.
Producer John Cohen called the voiced cast an “all-star ensemble of comedy talent,” and said, “not only have Jason, Josh, Rachel and Danny come back to voice fantastic characters, but are surrounded by some of the funniest people of today.”
Based on the Rovio Entertainment franchise, the Angry Birds film has proven to be a reliable draw. The first film released in 2016 was at the box office, drawing more than US$353 million worldwide from its $73 million budget. The 2019 sequel didn’t quite match that momentum, but managed a respectable $147 million, with a budget of USD 65 million, from a budget of USD 65 million.
This third article shows the changes in distribution as Paramount takes over from Sony. The studio has already booked the January 2027 slot for the release of the family event, and clearly sees the franchise as a safe bet.
