DC Studios has released the Super Bowl trailer for Supergirl, giving audiences another look at Millie Alcock’s take on Kara Zor-El. Watch the trailer above and read what we know about this version of the Kryptonian.
A Kryptonian shaped by loss — with a super-powered dog
Kara, who made a brief appearance at the end of James Gunn’s Superman, now finds herself firmly at the center of her own story. Set after the events of that film, Supergirl depicts a hero carrying far more emotional baggage than her cousin Kal-El. “He sees the good in everyone,” she says. “And I saw the truth.” It’s clear that this Supergirl is more cautious, more cynical, and less sure of her place in the universe.
The trailer opens with a flashback to the planet Krypton before its destruction, including Kara’s first encounter with adorable superdog Krypto, before showing the planet’s final moments. “The planet Krypton didn’t die in a day,” she recalls. “God isn’t that kind.” From there, Blondie’s “Call Me” picks up the energy as Kara travels the galaxy with Krypto by her side.
Cast, creative team, release date
Australian star Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon, Sirens) stars as Kara Zor-El, supported by a supporting cast that includes Matthias Schoenaerts, Emily Beecham, David Krumholtz and Jason Momoa, who makes his screen debut as the mercenary robot. David Corenswet will also reprise his role as Superman.
Directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya, Cruella), it features even more Australian talent behind the camera. The screenplay was written by actor-turned-writer Ana Nogueira, whose acting credits include “Hightown” and “The Vampire Diaries,” and is an adaptation of the Tom King comic by Bilquis Evely.
Supergirl will be released in Australian cinemas on June 25, 2026, and in US cinemas on June 26, 2026.
