Nintendo’s next Mario film is scheduled for April 3, 2026, and less than a year after its release, it appears to know the name of the film, thanks to what appears to be a slip-up from NBCuniversal.
The press release listed the world of Super Mario alongside other major films, which has now been removed (gives almost validity).
“Exciting films from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination have been announced, including Megan 2.0, Nowway 2, Bad Guys 2, Train The Your Dragon, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale 2, Him, Him, The Phoenician Scheme, Super Mario World, Shrek, Minions and more.”
This makes sense (spoilers), Yoshi was in the final scene of the original Mario film, and his first appearance was also in the world of Super Mario, so it makes sense to think that is the next step in the film franchise.
No other information about the next Mario movie is revealed except for the fact that it is expanding the world of Mario.
