Mia Wasikowska leads Helium Pictures’ new cold case crime series, which has begun production in Sydney.
Murder: Parrish Station, a co-committee of Stan and ITV, investigates the massacre of four scientists who were called in 1987 to brutally murdered in an inexplicable way, and the lonely survivors investigate the obvious suspects.
But Georgia’s delve deeper into intricate cases intertwined with mania, rituals and occult, and her compulsive quest for a swirl of truth becomes a nightmare that puts her family, career and sanity on the line.
More than 30 years later, the cold of murder comes back, just as Georgia (Heather Mitchell) returns to this nightmare, as he faces the horrors of Parish Station faced with the horrors that were not completely buried.
The cast includes Xavier Samuel, Robert Taylor, Alan Dale, Emma Lung, Doris Yunane, Kat Hoyos, Nic English, Alex Malone, Geoff Morrell, Rob Carlton, Alex Lee, Cameron James, and Newcomer Grace Owens.
Ben Jenkins created and wrote the series with author and story producer Tim Pie and authors Yolanda Ramke and Katherine Smith McMullen.
It is produced by Kerrie Mainwaring, while Mark Fennessy from Helium is produced by Stan’s Donna Chang and Andy Ryan.
The series has received a large production investment from Screen Australia and is funded with support from Screen NSW’s NSW Fund Fund. Additionally, it was developed with the support of ScreenWest and Screen NSW. It also supports post-production, digital and visual effects. It is distributed and funded internationally by ITV Studios.
Fennessy said the story, set against the Outback, is about “what we fill, what we choose to forget, and what we reject what is hidden.”
“We are incredibly proud of this unforgettable, deeply human story. The thriller, with a charming female lead, was told on two timelines with true detectives and yellow jacket biting scales and suspense,” he said.
Michael Healy, executive director of Entertainment Content Commissioning at Nine Entertainment, said The Killings: Parrish Station is an impressive addition to the Stan Originals Slate.
“It’s a testament to the finest creative storytelling led by visionary creator Ben Jenkins, who skillfully weaves the story of a massive cold case of space horror,” he said.
ITV Studios EVP of Global Content Julie Meldal-Johnsen said the scripts in the series are some of the best the company has read.
“Thrilling and Inspiring Murder: We are pleased to bring Parish Station to an international audience and work with Helium and Stan’s partners,” she said.
Murder: Parrish Station will premiere at Stan in 2026.
