Netflix has released the official trailer for Squid Game: The Challenge Season 2, the next round of the streaming giant’s competition show based on the hit Korean series. 456 brand new players, $4.56 million in pots. Watch the trailer above and read the gist.
The game is reset with a fresh look and sharper social calculations. Strategy first, friendship second: A father-daughter duo prepares for an emotional breakup. One of the contestants announced that his girlfriend was pregnant, leading to applause, but he later told the camera, “This baby doesn’t exist.”
Two dull lines express the atmosphere. “Loyalty can get you pretty far in this game…but betrayal could net you $4.56 million,” says one player. Another: “We’re playing for ourselves, not for friendship.”
Season 2 brings a remix of familiar trials, as well as never-before-played challenges. Fans will recognize the rainbow-colored racetrack, flying stones, six-legged pentathlon Gongi, and pink-clad security guards. Its appeal lies in more than just bigger set pieces. It’s a tweak to the rules aimed at breaking up alliances or forcing unstable twists.
The second season of the nine-episode Squid Game: The Challenge is a three-week event. It will premiere on November 4th, continue on November 11th, and conclude with a grand finale on November 18th.
