South Africa’s Springboks have made a major change to their squad for the second round of the Rugby Championship 2024, and will face the Australian Wallabies in Perth, Australia.
Boks manager Rassie Erasmus took the bold move of making 10 changes from the squad that played against the Wallabies last week.
In particular, Morne van den Berg and Luan Nortje are set to start for the first time, bringing fresh energy to the scrumhalf and lock positions respectively. There have also been changes in the leadership, with Siya Kolisi stepping down after this match, handing over the captaincy to Salman Moerat, with Marco van Staden taking over the flanker position.
Some changes to Australia’s lineup include Angus Bell replacing Isaac Kiley as prop and Josh Nassar replacing Matt Fessler as hooker. Additionally, Nick White took over the scrumhalf position, replacing Jake Gordon.
