The slow horse has been kept in Slau’s house for a while. Apple TV+ officially renewed its celebrating spy drama for its seventh season, and even before season 5 was released, it confirmed six more episodes of the dark comic spy action.
Gary Oldman, who was knighted earlier this year, continues to lead the series as Jackson Lamb, the blurred, illustrious MI5 agent in charge of the agency’s most unwanted operatives.
Season 7 is based on the Bad Actor, the eighth book in Mick Heron’s bestselling Slauhaus series. The plot follows Lamb and his team as they hunt and try to neutralize moles run within the British government before the catastrophe attacks.

“The Slow Horse has gained fans all over the world,” said Jay Hunt, European creative director of Apple TV+ in a statement. “We are delighted that viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary’s epic performance as Jackson Ram alongside the slightly incompetent spycraft of Slow Horse.”
This series has proven to be a consistent performer for Apple. All four seasons released are certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, with season 1 and 3 landing perfect 100% critic scores. Season 4 was named the 2024 Rotten Tomatoes number one series, and the third season won nine Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including a victory for outstanding writing in the drama series.
Season 5, which arrives on September 24, 2025, is based on the rules of London in Halong and is focused on suspicious activities related to Tech Whiz Roddy Ho. Season 6 – Already Filmed – adapted Joe Country and Slauhouse, and the team was caught in a fierce cycle of retaliation by Diana Terburner, played by Christine Scott Thomas.
Old Man: “Highlights of my career”
Oldman revealed that Ram is a proud role to be back. “I think it’s the highlight of my career,” the Oscar winner said in an interview with the 2024 AV Club. “It’s a great character (and has) the great sauce material they do their best to be respected every time.”
Oldman also spoke warmly about the behind-the-scenes cast and crew dynamics, comparing it to a theatre troupe. I think I just live with these characters and do a great job. ”

Production team and future events
Slow Horses is currently being produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films, a part of the Media One Group. Season 7 will fit TV and executive produced by Ben Vanstone, with Robert McKillop directly set. Other executive producers include Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kusetta, Ian Canning, Emil Sherman, Dunhasid, Mick Heron, Gailmitrax, Douglas Urbanski and Oldman himself.
Seasons 5 and 6 are already in the can and are now the seventh book, so the slow hose shows no signs of slowing down.
